Finding Our Dream Venue

We initially fell in love with Lake Bled, especially the idea of getting married on Bled Island (the only island in Slovenia). But, as much as we loved Lake Bled, we eventually chose a vineyard in the Goriška Brda region, often referred to as the “Tuscany of Slovenia”. We couldn’t resist the rolling hills, the views stretching into Italy, and the idea of saying our vows surrounded by vineyards. The venue had this rustic charm with an elegant touch. We immediately knew it was the one.

Navigating the Planning

Planning a wedding in a different country can feel daunting, but honestly, it was easier than we expected. Slovenia is quite organized when it comes to weddings, and we found a fantastic local planner who was a lifesaver. She guided us through everything—venue details, legal requirements, accommodation for our guests, and even suggested local vendors.

Our ceremony was small—just close friends and family, about 40 people in total. The intimacy was exactly what we wanted. Local Slovenian wine flowed freely (some of the best we’ve ever tasted), and the food—oh, the food—was incredible! We had a farm-to-table feast featuring local ingredients, and our guests are still talking about it months later.

There was a slight breeze that kept blowing out the candles, our friend’s toast got hilariously off-topic, and at one point, we all kicked off our shoes and danced barefoot in the grass.
